The Catholic Public Domain Version of the Bible is a rendition of the Sacred Bible based on the Sixtus V and Clement VIII Latin Vulgate edition. The primary source text used was the 1914 Hetzenauer edition of the Vulgate. Various other Latin editions were referenced, including the 1861 Vercellone edition, the 1822 - 1824 Leander van Ess edition, and the more recent Tweedale Edition (London, 2005). In translating the Latin text to English, guidance was drawn from the Challoner Douay-Rheims Version of the Bible and occasional consultations from the original Rheims Douai Bible.

The individual behind the translation and editing of the Catholic Public Domain Version is Ronald L. Conte Jr. Ron undertook this task with trust in God's Providence and Grace, supported by numerous printed and electronic reference materials. As all Latin editions used are in the public domain, Ron, as the sole translator and editor, declares that the Catholic Public Domain Version of the Sacred Bible is perpetually placed in the public domain.
